Everybody knows the favicon (favorite icon), also know as website icon, shortcut icon, url cion or bookmark icon. It’s a little 16x16 pixels image that appears in the address bar of your browser and in you bookmark list. If you’re a website owner, you know what i mean.
Now, with your brand new Iphone, you can pretty much do the same and create your website favorite icon, what Apple calls Webclip Bookmark. It’s really easy to do and your visitors will love it.

Open your favorite image editing program, and create a 57x57 pixels image. Then, do whatever you want. But if you want to do an Apple look alike icon, just download my template file and make it yours.
When you’re done, save your image and name it “apple-touch-icon.png”.
Upload this image on your webserver root….right next to your favicon.ico file. You’re done. But one more thing, you need to “plug it” to your website. The easiest method, according to Apple doc is to use the link tag inside the head element of your html page like this :
<link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="http://yourWebsite.com/apple-touch-icon.png" />
You want to see how it works ? You have an Iphone ? Visit my website, tap the plus sign at the bottom of the screen, and select “Add to Home Screen”…et voilà ! Now you can go back to your homepage and admire your new glossy icon.
Finally, if you don’t like it, just do it all over again. Click and hold one of the icons. When it starts to wiggle, tap the “X” on the icon nad it’s gone.
