Search Engine Optimization: Do’s and Don’ts
Some obvious website do’s. So obvious that lots of people still don’t do it.
Do’s
- Content is king! Create relevant and useful content, particularly for your homepage.
- Update your content frequently
- Better have 100 short pages than 10 long pages. Make sure your pages have a minumum of 200 words though.
- Use keywords in the page title, headings, first paragraph and links.
- Keep your web page as small as possible
- Create unique titles and meta description for every single page
- Put your javascrip code in a file outside your page, your page will load faster
- Same with your css file, link them to your page
- Link each page from your homepage and/or sitemap page
- Use <a href> VS javascript link
Dont’s
- Don’t use page redirects
- Don’t repeat your keywords over and over
- Dont’ use hidden text
- Don’t use too small text size
- Don’t use hidden image links like 1x1 pixel image
- Don’t use frames
- Avoid Flash
- Don’t use “click here” as the text for your links
